The Honors Hybrid Homeschool
Moody Institute is a rigorous two-day hybrid homeschool program designed to challenge and engage even the most advanced students. Rooted in the classical Trivium, the curriculum progresses through the Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric stages, with a strong emphasis on Socratic dialogue, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary learning. In the Rhetoric stage, students participate in hybrid courses that blend classical texts, modern applications, and real-world problem-solving.
Unapologetically Christian in its worldview, Moody Institute seeks to equip students with both intellectual depth and spiritual maturity. Through a partnership with parents, we are committed to discipling the next generation, cultivating wisdom, virtue, and a Christ-centered approach to education.
Enrollment is by invitation only.
Classical Education
The classical model of education follows three stages: grammar, logic, and rhetoric. Students spend four years in each stage, with grammar school starting at age 6 and rhetoric school ending at age 18.
The grammar stage fills up the student's mind with building blocks of knowledge that will be useful in later stages. These basic facts require only memorization in the grammar stage, since the mind is not ready to make logical conclusions or rhetorical synthesis. The building blocks are intellectual raw material from which the student will draw in later years.
The logic stage begins to make sense of the facts from the grammar stage.
The rhetoric stage is where the student forms opinions and argues from a depth of knowledge built up during the previous stages.
Curriculum
The curriculum at Moody Institute is built upon the foundation of the Great Books, guiding students through the most influential literary, philosophical, and theological works in history. Beginning with Homer, Plato, Aristotle, Augustine, and Aquinas, students engage deeply with the ideas that have shaped Western civilization. As they progress, they explore Shakespeare, Dante, Milton, and the American Founding Fathers, analyzing their works through Socratic dialogue and written discourse. Each text is studied not merely for historical insight but as a living conversation, connecting timeless wisdom to modern challenges. Alongside these classical works, students engage with modern literature, scientific discoveries, and ethical debates, ensuring they are prepared to understand and navigate the complexities of the 21st century.
Bridging the classical with the contemporary, Moody Institute integrates cutting-edge disciplines into its curriculum. Students move from classical philosophy to modern economics, engineering, and the sciences, applying logic and rhetoric to real-world problems. The senior-level curriculum includes in-depth studies in computer science, entrepreneurship, and artificial intelligence, equipping students to innovate and lead in a rapidly evolving world. Courses in robotics, machine learning, and business strategy prepare students to approach technology with wisdom and discernment, ensuring they are not merely consumers of AI but thoughtful creators and ethical decision-makers. By blending the wisdom of the past with the knowledge of the present and the technology of the future, the Institute cultivates students who are both classically educated and technologically fluent, ready to shape the world for Christ.
Parental Involvement
Parents are critical for a student's educational success, regardless of venue. As a hybrid school, the Moody Institute experience is a blend of both formal classroom instruction with a small peer group as well as informal home education. In-person classes are two days per week, and students are educated at home on the remaining days.
